LGVA is aware that a number of trees in the centre of the village have been felled recently due to their age or poor condition. We recognise the importance of trees to the village environment and are currently holding discussions with DBC on possible measures to involve the community in their replacement. There are understandable budgetary constraints and LGVA will consider assistance with funding if necessary.
The Luton Airport authority is seeking to expand the airport with a view to increasing passenger numbers over the next 20 years from the current 18 million per annum to 32 million, with an increase in aircraft movements of over 50%.
The airport authority is currently running an exhibition/roadshow at various venues around the area, the nearest being at Redbourn Village Hall on on Wednesday 27th November and the Jubilee Centre in Catherine Street, St Albans on Friday 29th November, in both cases from 2pm to 8pm. All the documents relating to the proposals are available for inspection at the Library in the Forum in Hemel Town Centre. There is also a website outlining the proposals at www.futureluton.llal.org.uk.
Flight paths are to be reviewed in 2020/21 and, provided there are no changes, Leverstock Green should not be affected to any great extent. If anyone wishes to participate in the consultation process, it runs until the 16th December.
